Full job description

OPS Specialist – Operations, Parts & Service

APEX Compressor is a locally owned industrial sales and service company based in Waterloo, Iowa. We started in 2022 and have grown quickly by doing more for our clients than our competitors are willing to. We take care of our customers, work hard, and have built a great team. We take what we do seriously, but we also like to have fun and enjoy coming to work.

We're looking for a dependable, motivated person to join our team as an OPS Specialist, short for Operations, Parts & Service.

The OPS Specialist plays a key role in keeping our service operation running smoothly. They work closely with our Service Manager, Scheduler, and Field Service Team to make sure the team has the parts, tools, equipment, and support they need to respond quickly and take care of our customers.

This person is expected to stay ahead of what the team needs, keep things organized, solve problems, and remove obstacles that could slow down our service operation.

What You'll Do

  • Own the organization and day-to-day operation of our warehouse

  • Receive, inspect, organize, and ship parts and equipment

  • Maintain accurate inventory, complete cycle counts, and help manage stocking levels

  • Pick and stage parts, tools, and materials for upcoming service jobs and installations

  • Work with the Service Manager, Scheduler, and Field Service Technicians to make sure jobs are properly supported

  • Work in our software system to help move service jobs into "Ready to Schedule" status

  • Help identify and coordinate parts and materials needed for upcoming service work

  • Work with vendors as needed on pricing, availability, lead times, and orders

  • Manage our rental equipment fleet, including tracking equipment in and out, coordinating availability, and making sure equipment is ready for the next customer

  • Oversee company assets such as forklifts, trailers, tools, and other equipment, including tracking maintenance and making sure they're ready when needed

  • Handle UPS, FedEx, LTL freight, returns, warranties, and other shipping needs

  • Load and unload deliveries and operate a forklift and pallet jack

  • Coordinate deliveries, pickups, parts runs, and other day-to-day logistics

  • As time allows, assist with parts quotes, technician follow-ups, order entry, and other sales or customer support

Who We're Looking For

Experience is helpful, but attitude and approach are more important to us. We can teach compressed air, our products, and our systems.

We're looking for someone who is proactive, resourceful, helpful, positive, and a problem solver. Someone who works with urgency, takes accountability, follows through, and takes ownership of their responsibilities.

The right person doesn't wait for every task to be assigned. They look ahead, anticipate what the team will need, and handle their responsibilities.

Applicants should be comfortable using computers, willing to learn, have a valid driver's license, and be able to safely lift up to 50 lbs.

This is a full-time, Monday-Friday position with opportunities to take on additional responsibility as APEX continues to grow.
